"American Idol" fever hit the Garden State Sunday as thousands showed up at the Meadowlands' IZOD Center with dreams of getting on the hit program.

Thousands of hopefuls registered for the Fox program's auditions looking to become New Jersey's first "Idol."

"This is the tri-state area ? [we're] hoping for good talent with good attitude," says Patrick Lynn, a senior producer of the show.

One aspiring talent who's confident she will make it is Newark's Zanaishia Ward. "Ever since I was five, I liked to sing," she says. "I'm 16 now, so I'm going to come here and I'm going to fulfill my dreams."

This is the second time "Idol" producers are holding tryouts at the Meadowlands. Registration will continue round-the-clock until Tuesday at 9 a.m., when the auditions begin.
