The developer for the American Dream complex at the Meadowlands has gotten approval for more funding from the state, but has also pushed the timetable for the complex back a bit.
New Jersey state officials approved a bond for $675 million that will help pay for enhancements for the mega-mall. American Dream will include an indoor water park, restaurants, shopping, a movie theater, and even an indoor ski slope.
American Dream was supposed to open in the fall of 2016, but developer Triple-5 now says the project will not be complete until the summer of 2017.
Work on the project sat dormant for five years due to financial problems and a lawsuit with MetLife Stadium over traffic concerns. Work resumed once again last July.
Triple-5 says the mall portion of American Dream should be ready early, but it wants the whole complex to open at the same time.
