AAA
says Memorial Day weekend travel is a solid way to determine how busy the
summer travel season will be -- and it expects this season to be
red hot.
AAA
predicts 39.2 million people will travel 50 miles or more from home this
weekend, an increase of 8.3% over last year, bringing travel volumes almost in
line with those in 2017, long before COVID-19.
More
than 820,000 New Jersey residents drive to their holiday destination,
meaning AAA Emergency Roadside crews will be busy. They'll respond to nearly
7,000 stranded vehicles, dead batteries, tire troubles, lockouts and drivers
who run out of gas.
If
you're heading to the airport, air travel continues is up 25%
over last year, the second-largest increase since 2010.
