(AP) - A third shooting in six hours in Newark hasleft two people wounded, making it three killed and seven woundedin a day of violence in New Jersey's largest city.
The first shooting happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. Monday nearNewark's Weequahic Park, west of downtown.
Police say five people were shot - three men and two women - bysomeone firing from a passing car. One of the women, 35-year-oldNakisha Allen of Newark, was pronounced dead.
The second shooting occurred a few miles away just before 4 p.m.Newark Police Director Garry McCarthy says at least two men got outof a car and began firing on the victims, who were sitting on astoop. Two of the men were killed.
Two others were wounded in a third shooting about 7 p.m. in aneighborhood a few miles north of the second incident.
Police say they don't believe the first two shootings arerelated. Officials haven't made an assessment on the thirdincident.
