Three East Orange officers were indicted on assault charges Wednesday for allegedly threatening and attacking two teenage boys at a Beech Street apartment on May 31.Officials say two of the officers, Jon Cato and Hakim Davis, allegedly pointed their weapons at two teenage boys after the officers suspected them of throwing a rock at their cop car. Davis then allegedly punched one of the boys in the face.Prosecutors say one of the officers then put their guns in the boys? mouths and threatened them."While pointing the gun at the face of the juvenile, the officer allegedly said, 'You tell us who threw the rock or I will kill you,'" said Peter Sepulveda, Assistant Essex County Prosecutor. The prosecutor says a third officer, Dave Sheridan, failed to intervene. Sheridan is charged with official misconduct while Casto and Davis face more serious charges including kidnapping, assault and making threats.Davis? lawyer says the teens are exaggerating what happened, while the prosecutor?s office says they have witnesses to prove it.All three officers have been suspended without pay.
