Several students were injured following a collision between a school bus and another vehicle in Brookfield on Monday. The crash left a main road closed for a time.

It happened shortly after 3:15 p.m. near 115 Candlewood Lake Road.

Police say a vehicle struck the Brookfield school bus from behind while students were on board. Following the crash, the second vehicle left the road and caught fire.

Officials say the students suffered minor injuries, but it's not clear how many children were on the bus and how many were injured.

Parents and their children were reunited at Candlewood Lake Elementary School.

It's not clear what caused the crash.

Candlewood Lake Road between Rocky Road and Huckleberry Hill Road was closed for several hours during the investigation but has since reopened.
