A water main break sent water rushing down Hollowbrook Lane in the Town of Cortlandt Thursday afternoon, impacting roughly 100 homes.

Video provided to News 12 by a viewer captured the water flowing down the roadway.

Town officials said crews were working on replacing existing pipes as part of a water main improvement project when the disruption occurred.

Christopher Gross, the town’s director of environmental services, said a contractor was installing a new main while the existing main remained active.

According to Gross, interference with a rock during digging caused the disruption.

Gross said temporary fluctuations in water pressure are possible in the area while crews complete repairs. The work was expected to be finished Thursday.

As of Thursday night, Gross said all of the services have been restored.
