The town of Easton is one step closer to introducing its first-ever multifamily housing development after developer Steve Shapiro - known as the key advocate for a proposed Bridgeport-to-Long Island Bridge - won approval to build 19 townhomes along Park Avenue.
"It allows people to live in the communities they serve and it gets cars off the highway," Shapiro said.
The project features six affordable housing units designated for individuals earning 60 to 80% of the state median income, aiming to accommodate young adults and downsizing seniors.
State representatives Dave Rutigliano and Chris Rosario endorsed the initiative, noting that workforce housing is vital for building generational wealth and bolstering the local economy.
Although local resident Dwight Senior voiced reluctance regarding high-density projects, he acknowledged acceptance of this specific proposal.
