A Rockaway police officer is facing charges after prosecutors say he allegedly obstructed a criminal investigation.
According to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office, Donald J. Reddin, 34, of Wharton, allegedly gave "privileged information" to an individual who was part of a criminal investigation on March 12.
"Reddin informed the subject not to leave his residence due to police activity in the area, which negatively affected the execution of a search warrant during an investigation," the prosecutor said in a statement.
Reddin was arrested and charged on Aug. 31 with obstructing a government operation and conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance. He was released pending a court hearing.
Reddin is currently suspended without pay, the prosecutor said.
