Riverside police arrest two 13-year-old boys with knife following car break-ins

Two 13-year-old boys were arrested early Thursday morning after police caught them breaking into parked vehicles and carrying stolen property, including a knife, in Riverside Township.
Patrol officers responded to the area of Whittaker Street at approximately 2:28 a.m. following a report of suspicious activity involving parked cars. Upon arriving at the scene, officers spotted two male juveniles walking along the sidewalk who matched the description provided by the caller.
An investigation revealed that the two teenagers had illegally entered several vehicles in the area. Officers recovered numerous stolen items from both suspects and found one of the 13-year-olds in possession of a knife.
Both juveniles were taken into custody and charged with third-degree burglary, disorderly-persons theft, fourth-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and local curfew violations.
Following the investigation at police headquarters, both suspects were released to the custody of their parents or guardians pending a juvenile court appearance.
