Police: Man charged with possessing stolen firearm equipped with laser aiming device

Police say task force officers attempted to stop 19-year-old Semaj Johnson near Central and DeKalb avenues. They say after a brief foot pursuit, Johnson was seen disposing of a firearm.

A man is facing charges for possessing a stolen firearm that was equipped with a laser aiming device, Bridgeport police say.

Police say task force officers attempted to stop 19-year-old Semaj Johnson near Central and DeKalb avenues. They say after a brief foot pursuit, Johnson was seen disposing of a firearm.

Police say the firearm is a stolen Glock pistol equipped with a 30-round large-capacity magazine. It contained 22 rounds. The pistol was also equipped with a laser aiming device.

Johnson is a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing firearms and was on supervised probation.

He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a large-capacity magazine and carrying a pistol without a permit.

Authorities say the pistol was submitted for forensic testing and entered into the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network to see if it is linked to any other crimes.
