New Jersey communities spent the entire week cleaning up from some severe storms. Places like Asbury Park, Deal, and Ocean County experienced significant flooding. While power outages plagued hundreds of thousands of customers, the lion's share was in JCP&L's footprint. Rep. Tom Kean Jr., who's on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, fired-off a letter to the heads of JCP&L and PSE&G calling on the companies to explain why power restoration took so long.

Gov. Mikie Sherrill signed an energy reform package, which she says will save ratepayers $1 billion annually. The bills aim to eliminate unnecessary utility incentives that increase electricity costs. They also include a $25 credit to all 3.6 million New Jersey utility customers and an additional $150 credit to lower and moderate income families.

New Jersey politicians weigh in on the announcement of former Maine Democratic political candidate Graham Platner to drop out of the U.S. Senate race following a rape allegation, which he denied.
