State Attorney General Jennifer Davenport is applauding the United States Supreme Court's ruling to uphold birthright citizenship. The ruling blocks an executive order by President Donald Trump that challenged a long-settled understanding of the 14th Amendment that recognizes children who are born on United States soil as citizens, regardless of the status of their parents. New Jersey was one of 32 states that petitioned the Supreme Court to leave birthright citizenship rules as is.
