New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill revealed a software error at the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) led to the improper voter registration of around 6,600 non-citizens. The announcement came just days after Homeland Security stated more than 35,000 non-citizens registered to vote in the state.

Attorney General Jennifer Davenport is challenging what she calls unlawful conditions on billions of dollars in federal emergency funding. The suit claims the Trump administration is illegally trying to tie FEMA and Homeland Security grants to state cooperation on immigration enforcement and changes to election laws.

Attorney General Jennifer Davenport announced 97 suspected victims of human trafficking were rescued before and during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while authorities arrested 71 people. Dozens accused of paying for sex were among those arrested. Prior to the World Cup, state officials warned that international events like these are rife with predators who look to exploit victims.
