An entire Union County community has been left in the dark after a downed tree crashed into utility wires, triggering a fire and knocking out power across town.

According to local residents, the outage began Sunday after a tree fell onto overhead lines, causing the wires to catch fire.

Fire crews rushed to the scene and extinguished the blaze. No injuries have been reported.

As of Monday, emergency services remain on scene to assist residents as they deal with the ongoing blackout. Utility crews are working to restore electricity, though no official timeline for full restoration has been announced.
