Auto service shop fire in New Brunswick prompts road closures and heavy firefighter response

A fire broke out at an auto service shop in New Brunswick overnight, prompting a large response from firefighters.

The flames were reported at Prestige Auto Service on Easton Avenue and crews arrived to find heavy fire.

Firefighters are using ladder trucks to pour water onto the building from above as smoke continued to rise from the structure.

Firefighters are also working to save a neighboring multifamily house behind the auto shop. Crews were spraying water on the home to prevent flames from spreading.

One person has been displaced, and News 12 is told they are okay.

Easton Avenue remains closed between Bartlett Street and Ray Street as crews work at the scene.

There is no word yet on what may have caused the fire.
