A new facility in East New York is helping unhoused women find safe places to live.
HELP Women's Center, located at 114 Snediker Ave., officially opened last month. The 60,000-square-foot intake assessment center has 200 beds and state-of-the-art services, including computer and art therapy rooms.
The city's Department of Social Services partnered with HELP USA to make the purpose-built facility a reality.
"Our goal is from the moment any woman walks in here, that she is treated with dignity and respect," said Dan Lehman, president and CEO of HELP USA.
Any woman age 18 and older in need of housing can seek assistance at the facility.
