Police are asking for the public's help identifying a group of eight young people, who they say attacked and robbed a 28-year-old man with a knife.

Police say the attack happened around 7:35 p.m. inside 6020 3rd Avenue in Sunset Park, on Monday, March 30.

Police released several pictures showing the suspects entering the building. Once inside, police say they punched and kicked the 28-year-old man, after pulling out a knife, leaving him with cuts and bruises on his face.

Police say they took about $600 from him.

The group ran away, and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital.

Tenants tell News 12 the building is home to multiple families. The building is divided between apartments and a fencing center for kids, as well as an upcoming day care.

Several tenants and families said they’re concerned to hear what happened.

It’s unclear whether the victim knew any of the attackers.

Police are asking anyone with information about any of the suspects to contact CrimeStoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
