Sacred Heart University's Discovery Science Center and Planetarium has an exciting new traveling exhibit called "Frogs and Friends."

On Monday, staff held a ribbon-cutting for the exhibit, where staff say visitors can expect to see a colorful and diverse world of amphibians and their friends.

Animals, enclosures and their feeders are sponsored by Josh's Frogs.

Staff encourage guests to get more involved in conservation efforts for the creatures.

They say everyday actions can make a difference.

"Frogs are an incredibly important indicator species. If your frog populations aren't doing well, then your environment is not doing well,” said Alex Young, senior director of exhibits and facilities at the SHU Discover Science Center and Planetarium. “They're really important both scientifically and also just fascinating creatures.”

The center is located at 4450 Park Ave. in Bridgeport. Young says the exhibit will be there all summer long.
