A 19-year-old man with autism who went missing last month in Plainfield has been found dead, according to officials.

Connor Oldfield was last seen on Jan. 24, leaving his Plainfield home. Family members told News 12 that he left wearing only pajamas and did not take any of his belongings with him.

Police did not say when Oldfield was found, but said that he was found dead in Plainfield’s Green Brook near the Roosevelt Avenue bridge.

“This is not the outcome any of us wanted, and it is a loss that will be felt throughout Plainfield,” Mayor Adrian Mapp wrote in a statement.

Officials say his death and disappearance remain under investigation.
