No criminal charges will be filed against a police officer who shot at suspects wanted for a series of burglaries in Rumson.

Officials say the incident happened last September on Avenue of Two Rivers. The Fair Haven officer was out of his patrol car trying to stop the suspects while they were being chased by police.

Prosecutors say the suspects accelerated toward the officer, and he fired at their car, injuring one of them.

The two suspects were later sentenced to four years in prison.
