About a month-and-a-half until the election for governor, a new poll may give insight into how the race is shaping up.

Democrat Mikie Sherrill is leading Republican Jack Ciattarelli by 8% points, according to a Quinnipiac University poll.

The two candidates are set to face off in a live town hall debate at Rider University on Sunday.

Meanwhile, mail-in ballots will begin going out this Saturday for voters who requested them.

New Jersey residents have until Oct. 14 to register to vote.

Early voting runs from Oct. 25 through Nov. 2. Election Day is Nov. 4.
