A person who was riding a scooter was critically injured after a car struck them Friday morning in Paterson.
Police say it happened near 10th Avenue and 25th Street.
Detectives say the scooter rider jumped off the scooter, hit the ground and then collided with the vehicle.
Officers found the scooter rider unresponsive and performed CPR on them.
The scooter rider was taken to the hospital with head and rib injuries.
Both the driver and the scooter rider were issued summonses for expired registration and riding a scooter without a helmet, amongst other charges.
