A North Bergen man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a 77-year-old woman seriously injured in Leonia, authorities said.

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, Osmary Jimenez-Luna, 34, was driving a red 2012 Toyota Sienna when he struck the woman as she attempted to cross Grand Avenue near the intersection of Ames Avenue around 4:35 a.m. last Thursday.

Officials say he fled the scene following the crash.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where she currently remains in critical condition.

Jimenez-Luna was later identified and taken into custody Monday afternoon. He is being held at the Bergen County Jail pending his first court appearance.
