Police: Bayonne school employee threatened to ‘blow up’ high school over parking pass dispute

A Bayonne School District employee is facing charges for allegedly making a threat against Bayonne High School.
School Superintendent John Niesz stated that this employee is a school assistant. Bayonne police identified the employee as Neamat Azer. They say Azer got into a dispute with another employee over the issuance of a parking pass.
They say that Azer said that she was “going to blow up the school,” at the end of the argument. This threat was allegedly heard by additional staff in the area, according to police.
The superintendent sent a letter to the community explaining the threat and that the employee was arrested. Niesz said that the security team and police handled the situation quickly.
Police determined that the threat was not credible. The school was put into a temporary shelter-in-place while the investigation took place.
Azer was charged with false public alarms and released on a summons.
Students who spoke to News 12 did not seem too concerned about the ordeal, but counselors have been made available for any student who needs counseling.
