The investigation into an alleged hazing incident at Rutgers University that left a student critically injured is now closed, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to News 12.
The office began its probe into the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity last October after an alleged hazing incident sent a 19-year-old to the hospital.
The incident happened on the New Brunswick campus. City officials also condemned the house on College Avenue following the incident.

Alpha Sigma Phi has since closed down on the campus.
Prosecutors have not said if any charges were filed.
The closure of this investigation comes soon after a different Rutgers fraternity was suspended for hazing. Kappa Sigma’s Rutgers chapter has been ordered to cease all operations as of May 19.
A university spokesperson tells News 12 there were no reported injuries at the fraternity’s property on Union Street. Details were not provided.
