A Mays Landing man accused of a scam that allegedly stole around $50,000 from grieving families has been indicted.

Police say 71-year-old Jiolio “Joe” Cincotti represented himself as the owner of Atlantic Memorials, a business that created and sold headstones.

Over the course of three years, he allegedly accepted payment from customers but never delivered the headstones or refunded the money.

Authorities say 30 people were victimized from Oct. 2020 to Oct. 2023.

All the known victims reported Cincotti to the Hamilton Township Police Department between Oct. 30, 2023 and Jan. 30, 2024.

He was then charged with multiple counts of theft by deception, according to officials.
