Two people from North Jersey were arrested after crashing a car into a condominium complex Sunday in Kearney, according to police.

Residents were forced to evacuate the 12-unit Forest Junction condominiums. No injuries were reported.

Authorities say the building has significant damage and residents won’t be able to return to their homes until the building can be deemed safe. However, one resident told News 12 New Jersey that most of the residents were allowed back inside to only retrieve necessities.

According to police, the crash was a result of a criminal matter and is still being investigated. They say 30-year-old Jonathan Vega, of Newark, and 28-year-old Alize Nulls, of Paterson, were both arrested.

Vega and Nulls have been charged with various offenses, including robbery, obstruction by flight and causing or risking widespread injury or damage.
