The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has identified the man fatally shot by a Manchester police officer as the husband of a prosecutor's office sergeant.
Officials say that Shannon Rose, 39, died on Dec. 5 during an encounter with Manchester Township police officers.
The prosecutor’s office says that police were responding to a 911 call about a person in distress. Officials say that police officers encountered Rose on Elizabeth Avenue. They say that two officers shot at Rose, killing him.

Officials have not released full details about the encounter but say that a gun was recovered near Rose’s body.
The New Jersey Office of the Attorney General is investigating, which is standard practice any time anyone dies following an interaction with the police.
