Heavy rain in New Jersey runs the risk of flooding on Friday. News 12's Tony Caputo hit the road in Thunderbolt 12 to check out the weather and conditions of the roads. He's also discussing what towns are doing to help prevent localized flooding during weather events like today.

12:30 p.m.

Tony Caputo has more information on flooding in Hoboken as the city issued a state of emergency.

12:07 p.m.

At noon, widespread 1-2" of rain has fallen with lesser amounts farther south and west. Localized 3-4" of rain have been measured in Ocean and Monmouth counties. 

11:40 a.m.

Hoboken has declared a state of emergency in response to heavy rain and flooding impacting most of the city.

11:21 p.m.

9:30 a.m.

An emergency alert has been issued for Hoboken residents as rain continues to pound the area.

9:10 a.m.

Cars were forced to turn around on one way Madison Avenue near Ninth Street in Hoboken due to flooding. Hoboken officials asked residents not to drive around or remove road barriers as heavy rain slams the area.

8:49 a.m.

The Hoboken Office of Emergency Management is asking residents to limit all nonessential travel due to heavy rainfall and flooding in certain low-lying areas of the city.

8:15 a.m.

Although no parking notices are in place in Hoboken, some took their chances. One store owner clearly prepared with sandbags.
