It's just days away from the two-year anniversary of when a Bridgeport mother lost her son in a fatal shooting – and she is still waiting for answers.

News 12 Reporter Shosh Bedrosian keeps up with the family frequently, who tells her they've been in communication with detectives at Bridgeport police, but say there's been no movement on their son's homicide case.

Heriberto Marquez, who was 24-years-old, was shot and killed near the corner of Hanover Street and Iranistan Avenue on Aug. 30, 2020, according to police. His mother, Elizabeth Delgado, tells News 12 her son was walking to his father's home at the time he was killed.

"I know there's someone out there," said Delgado. "That's all I know. There's people out there that saw and they're not out to say anything."

Delgado still lives with the same pain she experienced the day she found out her son died and wants to share her story, so her son's name or case is not forgotten.

"They have his phone, wallet, ID, the clothes he was murdered in and the sneakers he was murdered in," she added.

The last update News 12 got from police is surveillance footage released back in Feb. 2021 — where Bridgeport police captured persons of interest inside a convenience store and a white SUV vehicle outside.

"How do you take somebody's life and go to the store and buy and ice cream or a soda after or before you murder someone? How sick are you to even think about doing that?" asks Delgado.

Delgado says memories of her son never fade, but the pain of not finding her son's killer lingers every day. She is urging anyone with information about her son's homicide to reach out to police.
