Avon-by-the-Sea residents are marking the town’s 125th anniversary. Part of the celebration arrived in town on Thursday.
There was a parade of antique cars. About two dozen “horseless carriages,” as they were called, rolled into town and were on display at the municipal building. These are the cars that first drove the roads of Avon-by-the-sea at the turn of the 20th Century.
The Reo Car Company was founded in 1905. The cars are going to Asbury Park on Friday.
Avon-by-the-Sea is having a gala on Saturday to celebrate 125 years.
