Crews from 12 different fire and EMS departments responded to a fire on Nash Road in North Salem.
Chief Jeffrey Daday, of the Croton Falls Fire Department, said they responded to reports of a structure fire at 1:45 p.m. They believe the fire started in the laundry room. Fire officials said the home has extensive damage.
The fire department said two people were in the home at the time of the fire. They were both treated and transported to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
A firefighter was also injured and taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening. Chief Daday said it's unclear right now if the firefighter fell through the floor due to the building structure being compromised from the fire.
Residents in the neighborhood told News 12 that they've never seen something like this before in their neighborhood.
"It was surreal," says Dennis Glokler, a neighbor. "I heard the sirens and I didn't really think anything of it but then I saw the smoke fill in the valley back here and I look up and the house was ablaze."
