2 NJ nonprofit groups get help from federal food drive program
The leaders of two Essex County nonprofit groups met today with federal officials to accept donations from a federal food drive program.
Representatives from the Apostles' House and Isaiah House met today with employees of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Newark field office. Together, they donated nearly 1200 pounds of food to the nonprofit groups.
All of the food was loaded up and taken to each of the facilities to be made immediately available to people in need.
The HUD office in Newark also provides millions of dollars in aid each year to both the Apostles House and Isaiah House. The money helps both groups to continue operating and providing these much needed services.
