Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two men accused of shooting a 14-year-old boy last month in Soundview.
Detectives say it happened inside the Monroe NYCHA Houses at 877 Taylor Ave. on Oct. 11.
According to police, the two men approached the teenager. After a verbal dispute, the argument turned violent with one of the suspects pulling out a gun and shooting the teenager in the right leg.
The two men fled the scene in a Mercedes SUV heading toward Taylor Avenue.
Community members at Story Playground, across the street from where the shooting took place, called it shocking.
"Nobody uses their fists anymore. It's all about the pow, pow," said Sharon. "It's very sad and it's disgusting...Nobody is going to get the drift, we already going through enough. Ya just adding on more strain, more stress."
Parkgoers said they have had enough of the crime in their area.
"It's just very bad, people are losing their values," said Ramon Santiago, another resident.
Officials say one of the men was last seen wearing a black sweater, black pants, a face mask and black and white sneakers. The second suspect was wearing a black sweater, face mask, and sneakers with gray pants.
The 14-year-old victim was transported to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition where he recovered.
