A 27-year-old man is recovering after a late-night stabbing at a deli in Kensington, police said.
The incident happened around 11 p.m. Thursday at a deli on Coney Island Avenue, according to the NYPD. Police said the man was stabbed once in the chest and once in the abdomen.
EMS took the victim to Methodist Hospital. He is expected to be OK.
Investigators say two men ran from the area after the stabbing, heading north on Beverley Road.
No arrests have been made. Police say one of the men they're looking for was wearing all black. They don't have a description of the other man.
Residents like Randall Jordan say it's saddening.
“That’s somebody’s child. Another family is suffering today. I just pray that, you know, for the family of the one that got stabbed, hopefully heals and gets better and they catch whoever did it," said Jordan.
While police have not said what led up to the violence, a worker at the deli told News 12 he was inside cooking when a fight broke out. He said the men were arguing, the deli’s glass door was broken and the suspects ran off after the stabbing.
People like Adiba Anowar say it's incidents like this that make her take safety precautions.
“That’s actually one of the reasons I don’t walk out at night, I feel like it’s dangerous," said Anowar.
The worker said he recognized the person stabbed as someone who lives nearby, but did not recognize the two men police are now searching for.
Police were seen inside the deli reviewing surveillance video as part of the investigation.
