The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has traced an E. coli outbreak affecting more than 100 people in six states to ground beef.
According to the CDC, 17 people have been hospitalized, but no deaths have been reported.
The CDC says no brand or supplier has been identified for distributing the tainted beef. The people affected in the outbreak report eating ground beef at home and in restaurants.
This investigation began on March 28 after authorities in Georgia and Kentucky reported infections to the CDC.
The CDC is not advising the public to avoid ground beef, but just to be sure to cook it thoroughly, as a precaution.
No recalls have been issued.
