“Right place. Right time.” It's often referenced when someone has the good fortune of being in the perfect place at an opportune moment.
But what if it's your job to be in the right place at the right time? Hoboken's Gary Hershorn has made a habit of it.
He's had a legendary career in print journalism and photography. And there was never much luck about it. He consistently put himself and his camera where it should be at that exact, correct moment.
You may not know his name, but you've certainly seen his photographs in newspapers and on websites for many, many years. He's chronicled some of the biggest events in the world for decades.
These days he keeps his lens focused on the moon, the sun and the New York skyline. The pictures he takes don't seem real, much less possible, but his journalism ethos prevents him from using aftereffects or Photoshop to change anything.
Here's "12 Minutes with Gary Hershorn."
