This weekend will mark 10 years since Superstorm Sandy destroyed many parts of New Jersey, and in Manasquan, some family businesses say they had no choice but to rebuild.
The businesses learned the importance of insurance and having that all in order, that even came with its own challenges, but through it all, they kept moving forward. Now, the businesses are leaving a literal mark that might get you thinking.
“I said take a quick look it's not going to be the same when we get back, and unfortunately, I was right,” says Michael Parziale, with Riverside Café.
The father son duo boarded up the then 46-year-old family business hours before Sandy hit, and then hours after cleaning up to bring the cafe back.
“You know, coming back and seeing your life's work getting literally wiped-out overnight is devastating,” says Parziale.
