Officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating two separate construction accidents that left one man dead and another injured.
The first incident happened in Union Township Tuesday around 10:45 a.m. Police say that a construction worker died after falling off the fourth floor of a building under construction on the 900 block of Bonnel Court.
Police say that the worker was attempting to guide a crane that was hoisting building materials to the top, but that he lost his balance and fell. First responders performed CPR, but the unidentified worker was pronounced dead just before 11:45 a.m.
Work at the site has been stopped while the death is investigated.
The second incident happened just before 11:30 a.m. in Ramsey. Police say that a truck driver was injured when a pallet of slate-type paver stones fell onto him.
Police say that a landscape company was doing work at a home on Alida Place and that a landscaper accidently pushed the paver pallet on to the paver delivery driver.
The 67-year-old victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson and is listed in critical condition.
