Do you love farm animals? News twelve's Amanda Lee goes to a farm in Ocean Township. Here's road trip, close to home and this week's road trip, close to home, you can get real close to the animals here at out of sight. Alpacas. We are at out of sight, Alpacas and uh we're right off, exit 69 on the Garden State Parkway. Uh We're about a 12 acre farm and a petting zoo. We do tours here and other events like Alpaca hikes and we have birthday parties. They don't like these. Uh What's great about it is uh you're actually in with the animals. So instead of like, you know, petting them or feeding them through a fence, you're actually inside the pens with them. So you're right inside their world. Hm. We do have a lot of other animals. So not only do we breed Alpacas, we also breed cooney cooney pigs. We also have giant bunny rabbits, they're called chinchilla giants and Flemish Giants. Uh We have a mini cow. We have uh emus that we're also starting to breed now. So uh we have donkeys, uh they're mini donkeys and then we have our Horse Storm over here. Hey, Storm, you wanna say hi. They're just walking away from me. We're not just a place that you can just walk up to and, uh, come and visit. You'll have to come, go on to the website and you'll see the schedule times for tours. And what you're gonna do is you'll just, uh, kind of put your name in and you just show up for your tour, your names on the list. So, uh, we wanna make it where, you know, we have a AAA decent size group, but everybody's got enough room and then there's enough animals around for everybody to have a good time. And when you're done, you can head to the gift shop and pick up a souvenir. It's all made of Alpaca fiber and Ocean township, Amanda Lee News, New Jersey.

When you're trying to buy cake for a lot of people, it's hard to make everyone happy, especially the little Lanier. I want, I want chocolate. Luckily, Sydney's sweets in West Hempstead doesn't only have pre-ordered event cakes, plus cookies, cupcakes, and cake pops, but they also have a cake bar that offers customizable treats. So everyone walks away with a personalized dessert just the way they like it. So, Sydney, what's the first step? The first step is to choose whether you would like vanilla cake or chocolate cake, vanilla. The next thing you have to decide is, do you want a single layer cake or a double layer cake? No, absolutely not dad, please. Why not? How about we get the single or none at all? Good. Good. Awesome. Next you decide what type of frosting you would like. We have four options. Chocolate frosting, vanilla frosting whipped cream or cheesecake mousse vanilla formula whipped cream. Now, we have 16 options for you to choose from for your toppings. I have strawberry crunch. Rainbow Spring. I love rainbow sprinkles for you. I love rainbow sprinkles. Now, to finish it off, you can choose from our five sauces, strawberry caramel, chocolate nutella or peanut butter caramel, strawberry strawberry. Now, the big test, how does it taste? So, while they taste that, tell me, how did you come up with this? Great idea. So, a few years ago, I won a Food Network championship when people saw us on TV, more customers started to come into the store. We decided to come up with a more interactive idea for our customers. Set on 49 acres. The world renowned glass house is celebrating 75 years. This year also marks the completion of an outstanding renovation of the brick house which has not been open to visitors for more than 15 years in this week's road trip. Close to home news, 12 photojournalist, Laurie Goliath gives us a glimpse into this architectural treasure. We're here at the glass house in New Canaan, Connecticut. The glass house was built in 1949 by architect Philip Johnson. This was his private home and he lived here until his death in 2005. Felix Johnson is very interesting because he was so multi talented. He had uh this incredible career as a curator for Moma. He also was a landscape architect and designer and he was so influential as a mentor and teacher to young architects who are famous today in their own right? 2024 is a very exciting year here at the glass house. It is also this year that we are opening the newly restored brick house which has been closed for 15 years. Welcome to the brick house, this is the entrance corridor lined with etchings by Bryce Martin. The brick house was part of the original design of our site here along with the glass house in 1949 closed for the last 15 years due to water damage. Uh We're very excited to reintroduce this uh modernist landmark. This is the bedroom here in the brick house. It is an intimate luxurious space, the room, it's cocooned, you feel in enclosed and, and and embraced by this space. I think visitors are always surprised how much there is to see at the glass house site in downtown New Canaan. We have our visitors center inside. We have displays about the history and archives of the historic glass house. Uh We also have the uh design store which is just an incredible collection of beautiful objects inspired by the glass house. The Glass House is an iconic modernist structure. Different periods of the day and different seasons are always different here and you get to see different plantings and different trees in bloom so it it can vary over just the course of a day or the course of a year. Philip Johnson was an avid art collector and many noteworthy works are on view there including artist Frank Stella, Andy Warhol and Robert Morris. On this road trip. Close to home. The mode of transport is the main event. Anything on wheels could show up at the Bear Mountain car. It's back through the summer season where hundreds of vehicles post up and show off at Bear Mountain State Park. When you walk around, you're kind of in awe of what's actually here on the field. Craig Young and Ray Bambino are among the co founders of the car crew and this season marks 25 years of putting on a showstopper. I mean, you name it, it comes in here and if you don't it, this week, you're gonna see it next week. Anything from the collectors to the classics and the creative every step that you take here and really every corner that you turn is an adventure of its own. I love that culture. It's got its own murals from Japan. You're not gonna see anything like it in the USA and it speaks to the unique experience. Each visit brings there's old cars, there's new cars, you know, there's like for everybody get to meet new people every, every time I come out here. So it's a great feeling. Organizers say this event is expected to triple in size by the end of the season. That means more than 1000 vehicles for you to explore different ways to road trip, close to home. Hastings on Hudson is a beautiful village in Westchester County, offering unique experiences with a water view. That's right. News travels, Nikita Ramos takes us there on this week's road trip. Close to home. Hastings on Hudson is home to a handful of unique experiences. So let's take advantage of all the village has to offer on this road trip, close to home, to enjoy the game of tennis, you really just need a good court. But to enjoy these views, you got to come to tennis club of Hastings. The tennis club of Hastings is a destination to play tennis for all ages, all levels. We have a membership, but we're also open to the public and you can just drop in and play. In fact, the Metro North Station is conveniently steps away and if you make a reservation, it only helps to guarantee your spot. Now, you don't have to be a pro to serve your shot on the court because the coaches here will teach you all the right moves and the benefits of the sport are endless. Tennis is one of those sports that they say is kind of like a microcosm of life. And when kids get out here, when adults get out here and they really feel like they're improving. There's a real sense of enjoyment. Yes. That's the one. And don't forget to cool off and rehydrate indoors. After learning how tennis is played, relax in the ambiance and you might get the chance to see how some things are made. But hey, if you still have energy left over, let's adventure off to main street where you can try food from all over the world if you want. This is the only way to have it. It keeps the outside crispy falafel shack is part of Hastings history, bringing home flavors from the Middle East for more than a decade. It's a little spot. You don't think nothing of it, but once you try it, it's a burst of flavor, unexpected flavor. Roger Salazar and his sister Ali took over after their late father Florencio worked on expanding the menu from Israel to India and Mexico. One of the staples and customer faves is chicken Shawarma over rice. It's yellow rice with lentils and Middle Eastern spices through olive oil. It's a custom in the Middle East. Put the Shawarma season it well and let it cook and just shave the outside. It tastes as good as it looks. You can be sure of that. Wow. What an art. The fresh salads and hummus are also a hit here. I'm about to try the Chicken Shawarma from Israel and let me tell you, it is really good. But one of the best parts about this place is that a lot of the dishes are vegetarian based. So it's great for different kinds of diets and for those with Wander Lust. This is an international palate on a local budget on this road trip. Close to home in Hastings Nikita Ramos News 12.

ROBOT ARM VEGAN RESTAURANT 12 FINDS 2 

Believe it or not, we're not at NASA or inside a Tesla factory. We're not behind the scenes at a high tech start up. Hey, welcome. Are you ordering or picking up? Welcome to Colonel Chipotle's founder. Robot Run Restaurant is revolutionizing fast food. But I know what you're thinking. The food is made by real humans um in a real kitchen by hand from scratch in our central kitchen. So that's just down the street and how it works is basically we prepare the food from scratch every day throughout the day, um package it up and deliver it here on an electric bike and every hour we'll get a fresh shipment of food and the small but mighty team made up of three humans and a robot arm gets to work. It'll pick the tray when an order is placed for that item and it'll put it into an impingement oven. Then the oven will run its cycle about 2.5 minutes and cook the food. And then once the food is cooked, it'll pick that tray of hot food out of the oven and place the tray onto what we call the dial where the assembler will then take that food and prepare as an instructor. Chef, Andrew telling us that due to the technology and automation, an order could be ready in as little as one minute. We have lockers where you pick up your order, all the ordering is done digitally on your phone. So this is the kernel app and you can see there's some suggested, uh there's my previous orders, there's some suggested combinations. Um and you place the order a little bit ahead of time and the, the technology goes to work, picking up plates, patties and potatoes. The robot arm clocks in baking all hot foods offered here at kernel. The assembler then builds sandwiches, garnishes sides plates, veggies and there's your crispy chicken sandwich and sends the dish down the conveyor and it's ready for pick up. And so he has a little screen in front of him that tells him exactly what needs to go where he scans. The QR code on the label tells him to go to C 1818. So it's been just about six minutes since we placed our order. And here it is hot and fresh kernel offers all types of plant based futuristic food and the priciest item on the menu. Just $12. We have a few sandwiches right now. We have our kernel burger which is like our veggie burger made with grains and legumes. We've got a crispy chicken sandwich and then a bunch of vegetable sides like cucumbers, marinated beets, roasted carrots, crispy potatoes and then some larger salads and a couple types of cookies. All plant based, of course, really delicious. Cheers. Cheers. And let me tell you, the future of fast food is flavorful. The job that this is doing is, is not a job really that I think people want to do anymore. We have an opportunity to really like change what the, the restaurant job is and um, offer something that's really appealing in midtown. I'm Jordan Kisa News 12.
