New Jersey is known for many things – but what about maple syrup?

The Stockton University Maple Project is now in its sixth year. While its production may not be as big as the maple syrup industry in Vermont, the Maple Project did tap 600 trees that resulted in 230 gallons of maple syrup.

Thanks to a recent $270,000 grant from the Agriculture Department, the Maple Project is going to keep it up.

For students in the environmental studies program at Stockton University, these trees are a big part of their college experience - a unique program in the woods of South Jersey.
