Many people spent their Thanksgiving holiday giving back, including some members of the Yonkers Police Department.

Every year, they buy Thanksgiving dinners from Stew Leonard's to drop off to people in the community.

According to Det. Sergeant Frank DiDomizio, there's a special way that the department identifies those who are in need.

"During routine patrol, these officers will see someone who maybe lives alone, maybe needs a family, [or] doesn't have a family around and we keep note of who they are. [Then,] every Thanksgiving, we'll buy turkey dinners for them, and we'll deliver them ourselves," DiDomizio said.

Sgt. DiDomizio added that they picked up enough meals to feed 22 families and around 13 seniors.
