A Paramus borough employee was suspended without pay Wednesday after allegedly posting racial slurs and inappropriate content about President Barack Obama and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on his personal Facebook page.
Christopher Petronzio, who is employed by Paramus Shade Tree and Parks Commission, allegedly posted comments on the social networking Web site, which made their way into the workplace and outraged some of his coworkers.
Though Anthony Iacono, the borough administrator, would not release information about the postings, News 12 New Jersey found a reference to President Obama using the ?N? word and a greeting posted on Martin Luther King Day by Petronzio saying, ?Chris would like to wish everyone a happy James Earl Ray day." Ray is the man who assassinated King.
Petronzio?s Facebook page also featured a Kentucky Fried Chicken ad superimposed on a picture of the White House.
The local 97 union issued a statement that it doesn?t condone Petronzio?s actions, but will fight for his freedom of speech on his personal time.
Iacono?s office, the Bergen County Prosecutor?s Office and Paramus police are investigating the incident to determine if the posting could be considered a bias crime.
Petronzio was not available for comment.
