If you are a couch potato or an active runner, there is a good chance your dog might be too.
A new study by researchers at Michigan State University found that a pet owner’s nature shapes their pet’s personality.
“They do take on a lot of their owner’s traits simply because we predict a lot of the behaviors our dogs do give us,” says
My Dog’s Got Class dog trainer Adrienne Kepp.
Kepp says that it is important to pick the right dog to match your personality when looking for a furry friend.
“If you wanted to stay home and watch television all weekend, I might not give you a border collie,” says Kepp. “And if you wanted to go hiking, I might not want to give you a dachshund who just wants to curl up on your lap.”
Kepp also says that it is important to start dog training early to develop a good relationship with your pet.
"It's just so important as far as the bonding process is concerned. If you have a bond with your dog, that bond goes on for a lifetime,” she says.
