A Bergen County woman is at home recovering after her car was hit by an NJ Transit train Wednesday.

The collision happened at the Midland Avenue crossing in Elmwood Park. Katherine Perrelli told police she was driving over the tracks when the gates came down and had nowhere to go with cars stopped ahead of and behind her.

Chief Don Ingrasselino says there have been more than a dozen similar accidents at the crossing over the past five years.
