A Brick Township woman is looking for a surfer who may have lost his GoPro camera at the Jersey Shore sometime before Superstorm Sandy.
Beckie Emerson says that she was at the beach looking for sea glass a few weeks after the major storm devastated New Jersey. She says that she found the camera while walking on Point Pleasant Beach with her mother.
“She just saw a plastic case because it was still in the case. We ended up taking the case off – it was old and broken. But it was fixed enough that the SD card was completely intact so that’s why we could get videos off it,” Emerson says.

The videos show a male surfer who seems to be surfing at one of the beaches in Monmouth or Ocean counties.
Emerson says that she had forgotten about the GoPro for nearly eight years until she found it again while getting ready to move to Tennessee.
“I think it’s crazy. It’s weird to see because now you are so familiar with how the beaches look because they changed so much since Sandy happened,” she says.
Emerson says that she hopes to find the surfer before she leaves New Jersey in 11 days.
“I hope we can find him and return his GoPro and he can see the videos. I don’t know how old the GoPro is, if the camera is still working. The battery is still in it, but hopefully he can get it and he can reminisce the time he lost it,” she says.
Anyone who may know the identity of the surfer can message Emerson on Facebook.
