A boat explosion at the Shellbanks Marina in Seaford on Thursday has seriously injured a woman who was onboard, according to fire officials.

Nassau Fire Marshal Chief Mike Uttaro said the boat had just been fueled when it was started, and a "flash explosion" occurred.

The explosion knocked a female off the boat and into the water. She was taken to NUMC in a Nassau County police ambulance with serious burns and will be further assessed by the burn unit. No one else was injured.

The Seaford Fire Department was on scene for the explosion at the end of Beacon Road.

Officials say the fire was mostly extinguished when they arrived and the boat only had minor damage.
