Atlantic City’s casinos are still closed, as the boardwalk shops and restaurants begin to reopen. But many of the casinos have started to release their reopening plans.
“We’re ready. We’re prepared. It’s almost four months now,” says Hard Rock Atlantic City president Joe Lupo.
Lupo says that the hotel and casino has released its “safe and sound” plan to prepare guests for what they can expect.
Masks will be required for guests and staff, along with temperatures checks. And when it comes to the casino floor, Lupo says that there will be Plexiglas at the table games to separate players from staff and even other players.
“There’ll be a seat in between you and every other player, or at least you and every other party – but besides you and a guest, there’ll be a different seat between you and that guest at a table or the slot machine,” he says.
Other hotel and casinos like Resorts are also releasing plans. Golden Nugget says that it is waiting on approval of their plans form the state.
Lupo says that he is hoping for some guidance from the Murphy administration soon as to when they can reopen, to give them a chance to be ready. Lupo says that he hopes to hear something by the Fourth of July.

“Opening with these new protocols in the busiest summer weekend of the year will be a little challenging. People have questions and our employees will have questions. So, I just need some time to train and get our employees in and train them appropriately. And not knowing that timeframe is a little tough,” he says.
Some of the hotels have begun taking reservations on their websites.
