Residents across the state endured snow, sleet and freezing rain during Friday?s winter storm.
The storm provided a fun day off with snowball fights and snowmen for kids, but icy conditions made for a messy commute home for adults.
A multi-car crash in Wanaque on Interstate 287 closed both northbound and southbound lanes just north of Exit 55.
About 20 cars and two tractor trailers were involved in the accident. No major injuries were reported.
By Friday evening, snow had covered much of the state. The northwest corner of New Jersey got hit the hardest with 7 inches to 9 inches of snow.
Light accumulation as much as another 2 inches could come later in the evening into early Saturday morning.
